About the game:
Holosseum is a soon-to-market, casual 1v1 trading card game set in a futuristic science fiction universe. The game features asymmetric character design in the form of ‘grid runners’ who are mechanically diverse and interact with the base game system in unique ways. The release set of the game will feature 217 playable cards, 5 heroes, and two game modes with art from the game’s creator and primary designer Matt Burke.

What I did:

I joined the team late in the development process to help redesign and refine the core game loop and player interaction system. My specific assigned goals were to: increase player interaction, increase the speed of play and rework the grid runner characters to create more unique and dynamic playstyles. I presented a new game philosophy that emphasized saying ‘yes’ to players as often as possible, stripping away unnecessary restrictions, and adding a spatial element to play that immersed players in the fantasy of literally battling in a ‘Holosseum”.
